What this is

A registry of blocs: food built into squares and cuboids, submitted by its makers, inspected by other members, one certified a day. Membership is free. You must be old enough to agree to terms where you live.

A submitted bloc may be published

Each day the highest-rated bloc is certified and posted to a public Instagram account with credit to whoever built it. That is the point of the registry, and there is no per-submission opt-out — submitting a bloc is agreeing that it may be published this way.

Credit is by registry handle, and by Instagram handle only if you have given one and it has been confirmed as yours.

An admitted bloc is permanent

Admission issues a permanent accession number. The number is never reissued and the bloc is not deleted — by you or by us. You are asked once, at submission, and then it is done.

Corrections are made by amendment, which is admitted the same way a new bloc is. The record keeps both. Exceptional expungement exists for legal erasure and for material that should never have been admitted; it is described in the privacy policy.

What you submit must be yours

Submit only photographs you took, of food you built. Do not submit anyone else’s work, anyone else’s photograph, or a photograph containing someone who has not agreed to appear in it.

You keep ownership of your photographs. By submitting you grant the registry a permanent, worldwide, royalty-free licence to store, display and publish them as part of the archive — including on the Instagram account described in clause 2.

Figures are self-certified and unverified

Weight, dimensions and nutrition are whatever the maker declared. The registry does not check them, cannot check them, and marks them SELF-CERTIFIED wherever they appear. Where a figure is absent the registry states nothing rather than estimating.

Nothing here is nutritional or dietary advice. Do not rely on a declared figure for anything that matters to your health.

Admission, and what it does not judge

A submission passes an admission screen that asks three questions: is it a photograph of food, is it plausibly a bloc, and is it free of abusive content. It is a gate for admissibility only.

Quality is never screened. A clumsy, ugly or barely-square bloc is admitted like any other. Quality is what inspection is for, in public, by members.

Inspection

Members rate each other’s blocs on squarism, integrity and composition. Ratings are blind: the maker’s identity is not shown to the inspector, and an individual rating is never shown to anyone.

Rate honestly and rate what you see. Do not arrange ratings with anyone, and do not rate your own bloc through a second account.

Conduct, and losing access

No abuse, no harassment, no impersonation, no material involving minors, no attempt to manipulate the daily result. Accounts doing any of it are removed. Blocs already admitted keep their numbers, because clause 3 applies to everyone including people who are asked to leave.

No warranty

The registry is provided as it is. It may be unavailable, may lose a day, and is not promised to last forever, however much it is intended to. Certification is a result, not a prize, and confers nothing beyond the record and the post.

Changes

These terms may change. Changes that alter what happens to a bloc you have already submitted will not be applied backwards to it.
